According to new research, fasting may be an important method of losing weight (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/05/120517131703.htm). Despite consuming the same amount of calories per day, mice that fasted longer lost more weight and performed better on athletic events. There needs to be a good bit more research on this, but I find it fascinating that something like this would contradict the "frequent small meals" mantra that has been a standard ideal in food science it seems for so long. People judge skipping meals and such as horribly unhealthy, but what if they are the healthy ones all along? After all, how often do you hear a thin person say "oops, forgot to eat, I will just do it later."
